A season of F2 with McLaren ended with a win in the Greater London Trophy Race at Crystal Palace and a debut in F1 racing at Watkins Glen. 1976 saw the introduction of the unusual 6-wheeled Tyrrell P34 and he raced the car to its only win at Anderstorp.
