This is the story of two of Britain’s finest and charismatic racing drivers - Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins. Mike became Britain’s first world champion in 1958 but was involved in some controversies, in particular his role in 1955 Le Mans disaster and his failure to do National Service. Mike and Peter formed a deep friendship which was shattered by Peter’s death during the 1958 German Grand Prix. This book is not just a biography of these two remarkable drivers but also something of a history of racing in the 1950s.
