The Mulsanne Straight is the spiritual heart of the Circuit de la Sarthe, a near-6km blast that has defined the 24 Hours of Le Mans since the race's inception in 1923. Before the FIA-mandated chicanes arrived in 1990, it was the longest straight on any racing circuit, a place where prototypes brushed 250mph, Roger Dorchy's WM-Peugeot setting an official 405km/h mark in 1988.
